I was nominated for the Liebster (German for “Dearest”) Award. Needless to say I was excited! But what is the Liebster award?
Read what The Global Aussie posted on: The Official Liebster Rules
*Note: There is no general committee that awards this award. It’s just a recognition from one blogger to another for how awesome they are. Kind of like a really big Internet hug!
The Liebster Award Rules:
1. You must link back to the person who nominated you.
2. You must answer the 10 Liebster questions given to you by the nominee before you.
3. You must pick 10 bloggers to be nominated for the award, whose blogs have fewer than 200 followers. (Originally it was nominate 3-5 favorite bloggers who have less than 3,000 readers).
4. You must provide 10 questions for your nominees to answer.
5. You must visit their blogs and notify your nominees.
1.Why did you start your blog? Do you blog about a particular subject, or does your subject matter change from day to day?
I wrote a journal during the year long illness of my youngest son, to keep sane and keep track of the alien world of cancer and its treatment. At first I wrote for me, then I began to share, and people said others should read my journal. Eleven years after his death I created a blog.
2 .What is the purpose of your blog? To help others? To vent? To help yourself in getting your feelings out?
I blog for all of those reasons. My grief – as in my hair, my skin, my fingernails, because it’s as much a part of me – ebbs and flows like the tides, it’s always there, a part of who I am, and it needs a voice.
3.In each of your posts do you follow a theme during the entire post or do you just randomly write about whatever comes to mind?
My blog is the Journal I kept through Nicholas’ last year, and then after his death. I post in chronological order with the odd whimsy thrown in.
4.If you could meet one person in history that is no longer alive, who would that be and why? What questions would you ask?
5.Are you living the life that you hoped for when you were younger? Are you achieving your goals in life?
No. After my son died everything changed. The world became an angry fearful place. I used to live in the moment. I took each day as it came. Nick’s death was a robbery of his life and pieces of mine. I hate that my surviving son has lost his brother. My goal is rebuilding my life with hope, faith and happiness and will you understand when I say I hope to die before my son does?
6.What are your hobbies?
Horses, reading, horses, writing, horses, hiking, horses.
7.If you could do one thing in your life that you have not yet done, what would it be?
Publish a well read book.
8.If you could go to one place on Earth that you have not been, where would it be?
Germany, where my mother was born, and meet her family.
9. Do you believe in life outside of our planet? If you want to elaborate your theories, please do. If not, a simple yes or no will suffice.
Do I believe in other life forms? I dunno. It’s an infinite universe. I would be ignorant to think earth holds the only life. I’m working on developing a faith in God because I like thinking that I will see my son again.
10. What is your favorite book or movie? (You can answer one or the other or both)
The first movie I took an interest in after Nick’s death was Erin Brockovich. And I’ve read “Evergreen” by Belva Plain many times. Love it!
